February 2008

Of Groundhogs and GladRags Ooo, there's some sun! Wait no, we're back to rain. Oh, oh!! But look over there, I think the clouds are parting a bit! Oh, no, I guess not. The weather in Portland, Oregon can really toy with a person. But you can't beat a Portland dusk, with those dramatic clouds, highlighted by a setting sun that finally drops low enough to say hello. February can be a tough month. I think many people are just holding their breath until spring. We can get through this together! Keep up those distracting and life-saving hobbies and be thankful for the opportunity to stay inside and watch movies, knit, cook and bake, read, drink coffee and, maybe, drink some wine. Ok, so February's not sooo bad after all. Braving the storms, |

Have you ever heard a GladRags employee tell you just to find a bucket at a thrift store to "cold soak" your GladRags before sticking them in the washing machine? Or maybe you've read that on the website. And, let's be honest, have you instead been soaking the 'Rags in that 12 quart soup pot you use on the holidays? Don't worry, you can trust us, we won't tell Well, now you can officially dedicate a container to your GladRags. We have two options to offer; a Bucket Style Soaking Container and a Percolator Soaking Container. Take your pick! We're proud to say they are not plastic! |

Ladies (and gents), February is the month of love. We think our customers are just peachy keen and we want to let you know it. It makes our day when you give us your happy comments on how much you love your GladRags. We love them too, and we're pretty smitten with you as well. Thanks and happy Valentines Day! |

For those looking to acquire less and reuse more, every life decision must be scrutinized. This is because it is just so easy to buy buy buy! For example, Diana lost her to-go coffee mug that she's had for years (stolen - er - borrowed from her father). Oh no! "Um, I guess I'll take it to go in a paper cup?" Yikes! She felt sacrilegious and ashamed. But not to worry, there on the counter sat a reusable mug just begging to be purchased lest another disposable cup be heaved into the trash bin. But wait, wasn't there a better way? Doesn't a reusable mug exist already somewhere, accumulating dust and begging for a sweet Americano to fill it with yumminess? Diana paused. She bought one more paper cup, headed outside and texted her friend Sara. Sara indeed had an extra mug - "When do you want to pick it up?" Another unncessary purchase averted! So, go to your friends and loved ones first - they've got all the fixin's for life, don't they? And if they don't… Instead of buying books, we can borrow them from the library and donate our already read books to Powell's Books. Got a passing interest in sports that leaves you with a basement full of unused sporting equipment? Pass it on to Sports Gift. Alright, enough clothes already! Donate 'em to Dress for Success. |
