USP Progesterone:
Pro-Gest cream is manufactured to contain 450 milligrams (mg) of USP Progesterone per ounce (900 mg per two-ounce tube). Each ¼ tsp contains approximately 20 mg of USP Progesterone. Careful clinical research has shown this to be an effective amount to achieve a natural balance.
United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) denotes a government recognized standard of purity and strength. It is sometimes referred to as "human-identical" or "bio-identical" progesterone, which differentiates it from synthetic progestins or progestogens. USP classifies the progesterone as the highest quality available.

Why a Paraben-Free choice?
In 2004 a research study suggested that exposure to parabens may have negative health effects. And while the results of the study are not conclusive, Emerita decided to be proactive. They immediately began developing paraben-free formulations for their products. Just to be on the safe side.
What was the research study?
The Journal of Applied Toxicology published a study in 2004 that found parabens in breast tissue, indicating that these compounds are probably being absorbed through the skin and may have a link to breast cancer. (Parabens mimic estrogen in the body, and high levels of estrogens have long been associated with increased risk of breast cancer.) While the results of the 2004 study are not conclusive, it's worth checking labels for paraben-free alternatives.
